Women should not be denied right to become Nigeria’s President – Aisha Yesufu

The Co-Founder of #BringbackOur Girls Movement, Aisha Yesufu has called for the removal of every societal obstacle that hinder Nigerian women from achieving their goals in life.
She also said that women should not be denied the opportunities to become the President of Nigeria.
Yesufu, who was the keynote Speaker on Friday during Girls Summit, organized by Protect the Precious Foundation in Umuahia, Abia State, frowned at the negative perception beamed on the women candidates in elections and those who are in leadership positions.
“They have been denied the opportunity for them to actually own their space.
“No matter how bad a man is, nobody says he can’t be President but the moment a woman is running, she will be told a woman can’t be President,” she said.
Yesufu, who commended the Lead Person of Protect the Precious Foundation, Norah Okafor for her crusade in providing a safe and better place for the girl child, urged the Federal government to abolish harmful practices against widows.
In her address, the wife of Abia State Governor, Priscilla Chidinma Otti, who was represented by the wife of the Deputy Governor, Adaeze Emetu, said her office had been championing the protection of girls, widows and other vulnerable people in Abia State.
Earlier in her speech, the Lead person of Protect the Precious Foundation, Norah Okafor encouraged girls to always speak out whenever they are abused or threatened, saying that her organisation would always amplify their voice.
