One trapped in petroleum tanker crash at Yamoransa

A petroleum tanker accident at Yamoransa in the Central Region has left at least one person trapped.

According to a statement posted by the Central Regional Headquarters of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), the incident involved a petroleum tanker with registration number GT-1150-12, which had been parked at the side of the road before becoming involved in a crash.

Emergency crews were swiftly dispatched to the scene following a distress call. Upon arrival, personnel observed that a victim had been trapped inside the damaged tanker.

In addition, personal belongings of the victims were found scattered, and petroleum products had spilled onto the road, creating both a physical and environmental hazard.

“The crew quickly cordoned the incident scene with cones and extricated the trapped victim,” the GNFS reported. The current condition of the victim has not been disclosed.

Authorities are yet to confirm the cause of the accident, but the incident has raised fresh concerns about the safety of parked fuel tankers on major roads and highways, particularly in densely travelled areas like Yamoransa.
