The Zamfara State Government has dismissed reports claiming that Governor Dauda Lawal is planning to defect from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to the All Progressives Congress, APC.
In a statement issued in Gusau, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Broadcast Media, Press and Public Affairs, Mustapha Jafaru Kaura, described the report as false and misleading.
He said there was no truth to the claim that Governor Lawal was considering leaving the PDP, noting that the governor remains loyal to the party under which he was elected during the 2023 general elections.
“The mandate given to Governor Dauda Lawal was through the PDP, and there is no reason for him to abandon the party that brought him to power,” Kaura said.
He urged the public to disregard the rumours, adding that the PDP in Zamfara remains united and committed to its development goals.
Kaura further stated that Governor Lawal’s administration is focused on improving governance, enhancing security, and fulfilling campaign promises made to the people of the state.
