Shatta Wale has carved a niche for himself as the Dancehall King of Ghana, but before the fame and controversies, he once had his eyes set on the skies, literally.
The hitmaker has revealed that as a child, he dreamt of becoming a pilot, a lawyer, or even the president, explaining that he had always desired to lead and make an impact.
Speaking on Primetime on Joy Prime, Shatta remarked that he noticed early on that his peers often listened to him and took his words seriously, a sign that he possessed natural leadership and motivational skills.
He admitted that while music eventually became his calling, his love for aviation was once so deep that he spent hours playing pilot simulation games where he built airports and flew planes.
Being a lawyer also piqued his interest, as did the idea of becoming a president, which he described as an “ordained calling” rather than just a career path.
“With law, it’s not too late, but I don’t think it suits my schedule now. For politics, it’s in my blood. My dad is a politician; he worked with the late JJ Rawlings and his wife Nana Konadu, so I could have pursued if I wanted.”
To top it all, Shatta Wale bragged that he has the intelligence it takes to be captain or whatever he aspires to be, as he was a very bright student throughout his academic journey.
He credited his father, Shatta Capo, for instilling in him the habit of self-education and discipline.
“My father valued self-education. His principle was ‘know thyself and align with your dreams.’ I was never in the last ten until SHS; that was my wake-up call, and it never happened again,” he recalled.
“I wish I had pursued those because music has been stressful. But I always say whatever God plans for you is the best,” he said with a laugh.
For Shatta Wale, life may have steered him toward music, but the leadership dream never died; it only evolved him into the star he is today.
