Alan John Kwadwo Kyerematen, Leader of the newly rebranded United Party (UP), has unveiled a development agenda aimed at transforming Ghana into the economic powerhouse of Africa by 2040.
The plan, dubbed “Vision 2040” under what he calls the Paradise Project, seeks to build a united, peaceful, secure, and prosperous nation capable of driving the continent’s economic growth.
Speaking at the official unveiling of the vision, Mr. Kyerematen stressed that peace and national cohesion are crucial pillars for achieving sustained prosperity.
“By 2040, if the people of Ghana, by the grace of God, give us the mandate, Ghana will become a power nation,” he said. “Can you become the economic powerhouse of Africa if you are divided? No. Can you become the economic powerhouse of Africa if there is no peace in your country? No.”
Alan Kyerematen, a former Trade and Industry Minister, noted that Ghana’s development trajectory has often benefited a select few. His party, he said, intends to break this cycle by ensuring that opportunities are open to all citizens, not just a privileged class.
According to him, the United Party’s vision is anchored on national unity, inclusion, and economic transformation.
“What we have been witnessing since independence is that opportunities are open for only a few people,” he stated. “The United Party is going to change that. It is to provide the opportunity for every citizen to realize their full potential.”
Meanwhile, the party’s Acting National Chairman, Abubakar Boniface Siddique, has hit back at the New Patriotic Party (NPP) over recent calls for reconciliation with members who broke away.

The United Party is expected to intensify its nationwide mobilisation and policy rollout over the next three years as it prepares to contest the 2028 elections.
