The Association of African Sustainability Practitioners (AASuP) is set to host the 6th African Sustainability Report and SDG Awards 2025 from 22 to 23 October 2025 in Accra.
The two-day conference, held under the theme “A Decade of SDGs in Africa: Resetting Our Climate Goals for Agenda 2030,” aims to accelerate sustainable development across the continent by recognising and celebrating impactful contributions toward the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The event is being organised in collaboration with the Ministry of Climate Change and Sustainability at the Office of the President, Ghana.
Gathering policymakers, industry leaders, researchers, academia, civil society, and international development partners, the conference will provide a platform to assess Africa’s progress on the SDGs, highlight innovative sustainability initiatives, and honour exemplary individuals and institutions.
It will also feature the launch of a comprehensive evaluation report on Africa’s SDG performance, offering vital data and policy insights to guide future strategies.
Among the event’s highlights will be the inauguration of the School of Sustainability, an initiative jointly developed with Accra Technical University (ATU) to train and empower Africa’s next generation of sustainability leaders.
Distinguished speakers include Issifu Seidu, Minister of State for Climate Change and Sustainability; Dr Ben K. Asante, former CEO of Ghana Gas Company; Mrs Justina Nelson, CEO of the Minerals Income Investment Fund; and Professor Elsie Effah Kaufmann, Head of the School of Engineering at the University of Ghana and Quiz Mistress of the National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ).
In recognition of his contribution to advancing sustainable development, President John Dramani Mahama will be honoured with the SDGs Global Sustainability Leadership Award.
The 2025 edition of the African Sustainability and SDG Awards marks a pivotal moment for the continent to reflect on a decade of progress, renew its commitment, and chart a bolder course toward achieving the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
