2026 WCQ: FIFA confirms Nigeria, Cameroon, others for playoffs

FIFA has confirmed that Nigeria will take part in the African playoffs ahead of the 2026 World Cup.
The world football governing body released the details in a statement on its official website.
It read: “To reach the FIFA Play-Off Tournament in March 2026, four African teams – Nigeria, Cameroon, Congo DR and Gabon – will compete in a continental play-off during the next international window in November 2025.”
Nigeria will play Gabon, and if they win that game, the Super Eagles will take on the winner between Cameroon and DR Congo to clinch the ticket to represent Africa at the intercontinental playoffs.
The winner of the mini-tournament will then play one country from South America, Oceania or Asia for a place in next year’s tournament.
