Tiv youths demand justice over killing of young woman in Nasarawa

The Tiv Youth Organisation, TYO, has condemned in strong terms the brutal killing of Favour Akaaza, a young woman from Imon community in Obi Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.
According to reports, Miss Akaaza was abducted from her residence at Ombi Anzaku along Kwandere Road and later murdered by suspected armed men.
Security operatives have since arrested several suspects, who reportedly confessed to the crime during interrogation.
In a statement, TYO described the act as “barbaric and inhuman,” calling on security agencies to ensure swift and uncompromising justice.
The group warned that the rising wave of violent crimes could threaten peace and unity in Nasarawa State if not urgently addressed.
“We cannot allow the lives of innocent citizens to be cut short without consequence. Justice must prevail,” the statement read.
The organisation also urged both the government and law enforcement agencies to intensify efforts to curb violence and protect vulnerable groups, especially women and youths in rural areas.
Meanwhile, authorities have appealed for calm as investigations continue into the tragic killing.
