2026 WCQ: ‘They’re favourites to win, we’ve been playing bad game – Osimhen on Nigeria vs Benin

Super Eagles forward Victor Osimhen has said that Nigeria will be the underdogs when they face Benin Republic in Uyo on Tuesday.
He noted that the Super Eagles have been playing below their usual standards in the World Cup qualifiers.
Osimhen did not promise anything positive to the eager Nigerian supporters; instead, he said that the Cheetahs are favourites to win the crucial clash.
SportPremi quoted the Galatasaray striker as saying:
“On Tuesday against Benin, we will be underdogs, and Benin are the favourites to win.
“Because we have been playing below our standards, it just doesn’t come together.
“We cannot promise our fans much. But we will fight. This group keeps on giving; it doesn’t stop.
“We hope it will be our turn to be on top on Tuesday if we play our part as players,” he added.
“I don’t want to talk much about other things, but I am not happy with how we represent our country.”
Benin Republic, according to their captain and manager, are in Nigeria to claim all three points.
At the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium on Tuesday, Nigeria will be hoping for a victory, which will boost their hopes of qualification.
