President Mahama, wife attend Global Leaders’ Meeting on Women in China

President John Dramani Mahama and First Lady, Lordina Mahama, are in Beijing, China, to participate in a Global Leaders’ Meeting on Women.
Hosted by Chinese President Xi Jinping and UN Women, the October 13–14 meeting will bring together world leaders to renew the spirit of the 1995 Beijing Declaration and accelerate its implementation. This year marks the 80th anniversary of the founding of the United Nations and the 30th anniversary of the Fourth World Conference on Women, organised by the UN and held in Beijing.
While in China to champion women’s empowerment, President Mahama and his delegation will also focus on strengthening Ghana’s diplomatic and investment ties with the Asian nation.
As part of his schedule, President Mahama will hold discussions with President Xi Jinping and the Premier of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China, His Excellency Li Qiang. He will also meet Chinese business leaders and host a Presidential Investment Forum, which is expected to bring together Ghanaian businesses, Chinese counterparts, and investors to explore opportunities in Ghana.
The President is accompanied by the Minister of Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, as well as officials from the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre, the Free Zones Authority and the Ghana Export Promotion Authority.
He will also visit Fujian Province to meet businesses with a presence in Ghana. These engagements are expected to strengthen the long-standing partnership between Ghana and China and promote greater cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
Other members of the delegation include the Minister of Gender, Children and Social Protection, Dr Agnes Naa Momo Lartey; the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa; the Minister of Roads and Highways, Kwame Agbodza; and the Deputy Minister of Finance, Thomas Ampem Nyarko.
Also in the team are the Executive Secretary to the President, Dr Callistus Mahama; Presidential Advisor and Special Aide, Joyce Bawah Mogtari; Deputy Presidential Spokesperson, Shamima Muslim; and Presidential Staffer, Nana Yaa Gyantuah.
