Police bust human trafficking, cyber fraud ring in Ashaiman …7 Nigerians rescued

The Tema Regional Police Command has dismantled a human trafficking and cyber fraud syndicate at Peace Land, Ashaiman, rescuing seven Nigerians and arresting three key suspects.
The operation, carried out by the Zenu Atadeka District Police Patrol Team on October 7, 2025, followed weeks of surveillance and intelligence aimed at dismantling cross-border trafficking and online fraud networks in the metropolis.
In a statement issued by the Command’s Public Affairs Unit and shared with The Ghanaian Times on Friday, the suspects were identified as Peter Okoyie, 36, a computer engineer, Jolly Ezekiel, 30, and Jolly Shadrack, 33.
They allegedly lured their victims from Nigeria to Ghana under the guise of offering them construction jobs in Tema.
Upon arrival, the victims were confined in a house at Peace Land and forced to engage in internet scams.
Investigations revealed that they were beaten and made to swear oaths of allegiance, while those who resisted were locked in a small room, deprived of food and freedom for months.
Police retrieved laptops, routers, mobile phones, and other items from the suspects’ residence to aid investigations.
The victims, who had been held captive for about eight months, are receiving assistance.
On October 9, 2025, the suspects appeared before the Ashaiman District Court, presided over by His Worship Derick Parden Eshun, on charges of conspiracy to commit crime and human trafficking, and were remanded into police custody.
