Eastern Region loses GH₵43.5m to fires in 2025- ACFO Timothy Osafo Affum discloses

The Eastern Region has lost property worth GH₵43.5 million to fire incidents in the first nine months of 2025.
According to the Eastern Regional Commander of the Ghana National Fire Service, ACFO Timothy Osafo Affum, the region recorded 529 fire outbreaks and 176 rescue operations during the period.
He said despite the losses, properties valued at about GH₵95 million were salvaged through the swift efforts of fire officers.
ACFO Affum made the disclosure during the commissioning of a new fire station at Boso in the Asuogyaman District.
He explained that the new station would strengthen the Service’s ability to respond quickly to emergencies and reduce fire cases in the area.
He encouraged school children, traders, and local businesses to make use of the station for fire safety education and training.
ACFO Affum urged the public to prioritize fire prevention, noting that “prevention is always better than cure.”
