2027: Hundreds dump APC, NNPP, LP for PDP in Benue South

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Benue South Senatorial District received a major boost on Saturday, October 11, 2025, as prominent politicians from various parties, including the NNPP, APC, ADC, and LP, defected to the PDP in Ogoli-Ugboju, Otukpo Local Government Area.
Leading the decampees was Chief Barr. Isaac Oduh, former Senatorial candidate of the NNPP, who declared alongside hundreds of supporters their decision to join the PDP, citing the visionary and inclusive leadership of Senator Dr. Abba Moro, the Senate Minority Leader and representative of Benue South.
Speaking on behalf of the defectors, Chief Oduh said their decision was driven by the need to align with a leader who genuinely cares for the people and delivers results.
“Senator Moro’s leadership has shown that politics is about service, not self-interest,” Oduh said.
“We are convinced that the PDP remains the most organized and people-oriented party in Benue and Nigeria. We have come home, and we will work for total victory in 2027.”
The Benue State PDP Chairman, Rt. Hon. Chief Ezekiel Adaji, welcomed the new members, assuring them of full integration and equal opportunities within the party.
He commended Senator Moro for his efforts in uniting stakeholders across Zone C, noting that the decampees’ return was proof of PDP’s growing strength.
Also speaking, Rt. Hon. Michael Audu, Member representing Adoka/Ugboju in the Benue State House of Assembly and immediate past Minority Leader, praised the decampees for making a “bold and wise decision,” assuring them that PDP remains a home for all who believe in progress.
In his remarks, Senator Abba Moro expressed joy over the mass defection, describing it as a sign of renewed trust in the PDP. He assured the newcomers of equal treatment, pledging to continue his people-centered representation and empowerment initiatives.
The defection event coincided with the distribution of wheelchairs to persons living with disabilities across the nine Local Government Areas of Benue South (Zone C).
Senator Moro, who presented the items personally, reiterated that “there is ability in disability,” emphasizing his commitment to supporting all groups regardless of physical or social limitations.
While addressing party faithful, Senator Moro urged aspirants within Adoka/Ugboju to remain united, stressing that the success of PDP in 2027 depends on internal harmony.
“We must remember that the wisdom of man is foolishness in the eyes of God,” he said, calling for humility and cooperation among members.
The Senator also decried the continued marginalization of Zone C in federal appointments and infrastructure development, calling on government authorities to ensure fairness and inclusion.
The event drew several PDP leaders, including: Rt. Hon. Ezekiel Adaji (State PDP Chairman); Rt. Hon. Michael Audu; Hon. Isaac Ochekiye; Hon. Alice Albert (PDP Women Leader); Rt. Hon. Solomon Onah; Hon. Edor Ogbole; Hon. Amina Audu; Hon. Emmanuel Adokwu; Hon. Charles Onoja; Hon. Mohammed Adama; Hon. Stephen Akatu, among others.
