2026 WCQ: Super Eagles’ playoff hopes diminish after Cameroon’s draw with Angola

The Super Eagles’ slim hopes of at least making it to the 2026 World Cup play-offs took a blow on Monday following Cameroon’s 0-0 draw with Angola.
The Indomitable Lions failed to secure maximum points despite playing at home.
This means Marc Brys’ men are tied on 15 points with Burkina Faso and Niger in the race to finish as one of the top four ranked runners-up across the nine groups.
The result has opened the door for DR Congo, Uganda, or even Nigeria to leapfrog them in the rankings.
However, Cameroon will be relying on their healthy +12 goal difference to edge out the other contenders.
As for Nigeria, they currently sit third in Group C with 14 points and a goal difference of +3 ahead of their final qualifying clash at home against Benin.
Gabon and Burkina Faso are both almost certain to claim the first two play-off spots.
