‘It’s the message that wins elections’ – Bawumia’s camp downplays ballot position

An aide to former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Dennis Miracles Aboagye, has downplayed the significance of his candidate’s number three position on the ballot paper for the upcoming New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential primaries.
According to Dennis Miracles Aboagye, its the message and not the position that wins elections.
Speaking on Eyewitness News with Sammi Wiafe on Friday, October 10, Miracles said Bawumia’s campaign remains focused on communicating a strong message to delegates, rather than worrying about ballot placement.
“In the 2023 primaries, Dr. Bawumia was number two on the ballot and still won convincingly,” he noted. “The emphasis is not on the position but on the message we carry to the people.”

During the balloting exercise held at the NPP headquarters in Accra yesterday, Kennedy Agyapong clinged the first position, followed by Dr. Bryan Acheampong at number two, Dr. Bawumia at three, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum at four, and Kwabena Agyepong at five.
Aboagye stressed that ballot position plays little role in delegate-based elections, arguing that NPP delegates are politically sophisticated and already familiar with all five candidates.
“This is a delegates’ conference with over 280,000 voters who can identify every candidate by name and reputation,” he said. “Beyond the excitement of the balloting, the real determinant is the strength of the message.”
