Ghana’s Ambassador to China, Kojo Bonsu, together with staff of the Ghanaian Embassy in Beijing, is set to welcome President John Mahama and First Lady, Lordina Mahama, for a three-day official visit on October 12.
The visit will include participation in the Global Leaders’ Meeting on Women’s Empowerment and Gender Equality, as well as a bilateral meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping.
Ambassador Bonsu has led extensive preparations with embassy teams and local partners to ensure a successful and impactful mission.
“Information reaching me shows clearly that the Chinese government and the business community are interested in investing and doing business in Ghana.
“As the Ambassador, I am ready to champion this cause and secure meaningful partnerships to the benefit of the Ghanaian people,” Ambassador Bonsu said.
Throughout the visit, Ambassador Bonsu will coordinate high-level diplomatic engagements and targeted business meetings in Beijing and Fujian.
President Mahama and the First Lady will participate in plenary sessions and forums to advance gender equality and women’s economic empowerment.
The President will also hold bilateral talks with President Xi Jinping and other senior Chinese leaders, including Premier Li Qiang and the Governor of Fujian.
The discussions will focus on securing strategic investments in infrastructure, technology, agriculture, renewable energy, and manufacturing.
President Mahama will also visit Fuzhou in the Fujian Province to engage the business community and explore investment opportunities in Ghana.
The Ghanaian delegation will prioritise agreements that support value addition in key export sectors, infrastructure projects with local content, technology transfer, and capacity building.
Business leaders accompanying the President will pursue joint ventures, manufacturing partnerships, and supply-chain linkages to position Ghana as a competitive hub for West African trade and industry.
The visit will also strengthen people-to-people exchanges, cultural cooperation, and educational partnerships, including discussions on scholarships, vocational training, and expanded collaboration in science, technology, and health.
This high-level engagement underscores Ghana’s commitment to attracting foreign direct investment and accelerating inclusive industrialisation.
The Ghanaian Embassy in Beijing, under Ambassador Bonsu’s leadership, will provide timely updates as agreements and initiatives are finalised.
