Nasarawa police nab suspected kidnappers, recover rifle, ammunition


The Nasarawa State Police Command has arrested three suspected kidnappers linked to the abduction of Miss Favour Francis of Ombi Anzaku in Lafia Local Government Area.

In a statement issued on Monday by the Command’s spokesperson, DSP Ramhan Nansel, the police said the arrest followed a combined efforts of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN) and police operatives.

According to the statement, on October 5, 2025, around 8:30 a.m., the VGN Chairman of Ambana Village arrested and handed over two suspects; Dahiru Aliyu and Sayyadi Abubakar to the police in connection with the incident, which occurred on October 3 at about 10 p.m.

Following their arrest, the Commissioner of Police, CP Shettima Jauri Mohammed, directed the tactical unit to investigate further. 

This led to the arrest of a third suspect, Abdulmumini Isah of Angwan Nunku, Lafia.

“The suspect later led operatives to the location where their locally made rifle, five live cartridges, and the knife used in stabbing the victim were hidden,” the statement said.

During interrogation, two of the suspects confessed to the crime, while efforts are ongoing to track down other fleeing members of the gang.

The Commissioner of Police commended the VGN and police operatives for their swift action and teamwork, urging residents to continue supporting security agencies with useful information to help tackle crime in the state.
