693 recruits from 5 states pass out from Police Training College Odukpani

No fewer than 693 Nigerian youths from Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa, Benue, Cross River, and Rivers State have passed out from the Police Training College in Odukpani LGA of Cross River State after a rigorous six months training.
The passing out parade exercise was for the 2022/2023 batch B held at the College premises on Tuesday.
The parade was reviewed by the Assistant Inspector General of Police Zone six, AIG Auwal Musa Mohammed who represented the Inspector General of Police, Dr Kayode Egbetokun.
The six months training commenced from 12th April 2025 and featured basic Police general duties training which encompasses all segments, modern policing standards, ethical values, practical field works, law enforcement in the 21st century, community partnership, respect for human rights and judicious use of authority.
Cautioning the newly graduated constables, the Inspector General reminded them that it is not merely a job but a sacred duty.
“Your conduct must be guided at all times by professionalism, integrity, respect for human rights and dignity of all citizens.
“Shun corruption, extortion and abuse of power. The uniform you wear is a symbol of trust. And it must never be used to intimidate or oppress the people you are sworn to protect.
“Uphold the rule of law, act with compassion and remember that the measure of your success lies in the safety, peace and confidence of the community you serve.”
As part of his strong desire to strengthen the Police Force, Egbetokun informed that President Bola Tinubu has given approval for recruitment of additional 30,000 constables to fill the manpower gaps and enhance security.
Governor Bassey Otu, represented by his special adviser on security South, Navy Commander Patrick Odion, rtd, charged the new constables to apply the practical training garnered in their service delivery and be friendly in whichever communities they will be deployed.
He charged them to be good ambassadors of the State and the police.
Commandant of the school, ACP Dauda Gambo said throughout the period there was no casualty amongst the students.
He charged them to exemplify what they were taught whilst in College.
