NPP race: Don’t allow another person’s problem to become a burden for me – Bawumia to delegates

Former Vice-President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, a leading contender in the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) flagbearer race, has appealed to delegates to judge him on his own merit rather than on personal grievances with members of his campaign team.

Addressing party members during his campaign tour of the Greater Accra Region ahead of the January 31, 2026, primaries, Dr Bawumia reminded delegates that it is his name that will appear on the ballot.

He urged them not to allow misunderstandings with his supporters to cloud their decision at the polls.

“I want to make it clear to you that I am the one on the ballot paper. If someone from my team has offended you, please don’t let that affect me. I hold no grudge against any of you,” he said, stressing the need to separate individual issues from the larger campaign.

Dr Bawumia further pleaded with delegates to back his candidature so he could continue advancing their interests.

“Do not allow another person’s problem to become a burden for me. When you vote for me, I will work for you. Please do not let anyone’s actions be visited on me,” he added.

Dr Bawumia is one of five aspirants seeking to secure the NPP’s mandate to lead the party into the 2028 general elections.
