Grace Ashly Reveals Painful Encounter with Stephen Appiah

Award winning Ghanaian gospel musician and celebrated composer of several Black Stars anthems, Grace Ashley, has opened up about a deeply hurtful experience that made her stop composing songs for Ghana’s national football teams.
In an exclusive interview with ZionFelix, Grace Ashley recounted how a remark from former Black Stars captain Stephen Appiah shattered her passion and motivation to create music for the national team.
As alleged by the gospel star, Stephen Appiah bluntly told her to stop composing songs for the team if she wasn’t being paid for her work.
Grace Ashley described the comment as extremely painful and discouraging, saying it completely killed her spirit.
“Stephen Appiah told me point blank that if I wasn’t getting paid for the songs, I should stop composing them. Those words hurt me so much, and that’s the reason I decided not to do any more songs for the Black Stars,” she revealed.
The gospel star, who became a household name for her motivational and patriotic tunes that rallied support for Ghana during major tournaments, said she had always created the songs out of love for the country, not financial gain.
