Tragedy at River Menu: Victim found, buried

The body of Alhassan Alasa Inusah, the 27-year-old Senior High School (SHS) graduate, who drowned in River Menu on Sunday, September 28, has been found and laid to rest in accordance with Islamic customs.

His body was discovered on Tuesday, September 30, and buried the same day at Okanta, near Kadjebi.

The incident occurred while the deceased and his twin brother, Inusah Fuseini, were crossing River Menu on a motorbike via bamboo footbridge.

While Fuseini managed to swim to safety, his brother was swept away by the river’s strong current.

Speaking to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at the funeral prayer grounds, Mr Inusah Adam, a former Assemblyman for the Kosamba Electoral Area and father of the deceased, described his son as “an affable, hardworking, respected, and humble young man.”

He said the loss was a devastating blow to the family and the community.

Hundreds of mourners from Kadjebi, Okanta, Menuso, and Awudome Kofe gathered at the funeral to pay their final respects to the calm and approachable young man.
