Police commence tinted glass permit enforcement in Kwara

The Kwara State Police Command has commenced enforcement of tinted glass permit regulations for vehicles in the state.
According to a statement by the spokesperson of the command, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, in Ilorin on Thursday, Ladi Suleiman, Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations, has been directed by the Commissioner of Police, Adekimi Ojo, to coordinate and supervise the enforcement exercise.
The command explained that the exercise, which is in accordance with existing laws and directives, will be carried out across the state in a professional manner and applies to all vehicles with tinted glasses, whether factory-fitted or otherwise.
The commissioner “advised motorists who are yet to obtain the required tinted glass permit to begin the registration process at www.possap.gov.ng, after which they should proceed to the command’s State Intelligence Department at the Police Headquarters, Ilorin, for physical verification.”
The statement also strongly advised persons who are not interested in obtaining the permit to remove such tints or replace factory-fitted tinted glasses with transparent ones, in line with legal requirements.
The commissioner further warned that “the command will strictly enforce the existing ban on the unauthorised use of sirens, revolving lights, covering or obstruction of number plates by individuals/officials not entitled to, as well as the use of unregistered vehicles within the state.”
He also warned all field supervisors to ensure that operatives conduct themselves in strict adherence to professional ethics, avoiding any form of harassment or extortion of motorists.
Adekimi Ojo vowed that any officer found culpable will be decisively dealt with, and supervisory officers will be held responsible for lapses under their watch.
The command called on motorists and residents to cooperate fully with police operatives during the exercise.
It also advised members of the public to report any incident of harassment, extortion, or unprofessional conduct to the nearest police station or through the Command’s Complaints Response Unit via 08078255661 and 07065774464.
In case of emergency, members of the public are to contact 08125275046 or 07032069501, the spokesperson added.
