Justin Kodua petitions disciplinary c’ttee over Abronye’s conduct against him and Ken Agyapong

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has confirmed that its General Secretary, Mr Justin Kodua Frimpong, has formally lodged a petition with the party’s National Disciplinary Committee against the party’s Bono Regional Chairman, Mr Kwame Baffoe, popularly known as Abronye DC, over a series of alleged misconducts.

In a press release issued by the national secretariat, the party highlighted that Mr Baffoe’s actions are considered not only unbecoming of a member of the NPP but also severely damaging to the image, unity, and integrity of the organisation.

Key Allegations

The petition details three principal areas of concern:

  1. Defamation of Kennedy Agyapong
Mr Baffoe is accused of launching public verbal attacks on Ken Ohene Agyapong, a senior and respected member of the party. Among the derogatory remarks reportedly made was the claim that “even the elephant has more wisdom than Hon. Agyapong.” The party regards such statements as defamatory, inappropriate, and detrimental to both the individual and the wider party.
  2. False Allegations Against the General Secretary
The petition further states that Mr Baffoe falsely accused Mr Frimpong of deliberately hiding a report which allegedly implicated Kennedy Agyapong in efforts to undermine the Party, with a recommendation for his expulsion. The party describes these accusations as baseless, malicious, and harmful to the integrity of the General Secretary’s office.
  3. Breach of Confidentiality and Misrepresentation
Mr Baffoe is also accused of misrepresenting the contents of a disciplinary committee report, purporting that it catalogued offences committed by Kennedy Agyapong. According to the petition, this act constitutes a breach of confidentiality and undermines the authority and integrity of the Committee.

Reliefs Sought

The petition calls on the National Disciplinary Committee to:

  • Conduct a full and impartial investigation into Mr Baffoe’s conduct.
  • Impose appropriate disciplinary sanctions in line with the party’s constitution, citing defamation, misconduct, and gross indiscipline.

Party’s Position

The NPP has reiterated its commitment to upholding discipline and accountability within its ranks.

According to the statement, safeguarding the party’s unity, integrity, and credibility is of paramount importance and remains non-negotiable.

The leadership assured stakeholders that all matters would be handled with fairness and in strict accordance with the Party’s democratic values.
