Lagos lawmaker meets, sympathises with victims over Oworonshoki demolitions

The Chairman of the Lagos State House Committee on Local Government Administration, Chieftaincy Affairs and Rural Development, Hon. Sanni Ganiyu Babatunde Okanlawon, on Sunday participated in a stakeholders’ meeting at the palace of the Oloworo of Oworonshoki, His Royal Majesty Oba Babatunde Saliu, to discuss the recent demolition of buildings in Oworonshoki.
Hon. Okanlawon, who represents Kosofe Constituency I at the Lagos State House of Assembly, expressed sympathy to affected residents, noting that his thoughts and prayers were with every family and individual impacted by the exercise.
He disclosed that the Lagos State Government had promised to compensate victims, adding that portions of the reclaimed land would be developed and reallocated to the rightful owners of demolished properties.
Clarifying his role, the lawmaker emphasised that he had no prior knowledge of or involvement in the demolition process. He assured constituents that he would work hand in hand with the relevant authorities to guarantee fairness, transparency, and due process in resolving their concerns.
Reiterating his commitment to the welfare of his people, Hon. Okanlawon pledged to continue defending their interests and to stand by them during difficult times.
