They’re terrorists’ – Dangote Refinery blasts PENGASSAN over nationwide strike

The management of Dangote Refinery has described the leadership of the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria, PENGASSAN, as terrorists.

Dangote Refinery disclosed this in a statement on Sunday.

This comes as PENGASSAN, at the weekend, directed members to down tools and cut gas and crude supply to Dangote Refinery.

The PENGASSAN directive follows Dangote Refinery’s recent mass sacking of workers for voluntary membership of the union.

Reacting to the development, Dangote Refinery said PENGASSAN’s action is a ‘bully tactic’, urging Nigerians and the state not to succumb.

The oil firm said the union’s decision would cripple economic activities of the majority who rely on petroleum products – kerosene, cooking gas, petrol, diesel, and aviation fuel.

“The oligarchs in PENGASSAN have proved themselves to be terrorists and have turned the Association into a bully organisation. It is time they be called to order.

“Indeed, over time, the Association has consistently proved itself as serving interests other than those of Nigerians and Nigerian workers,” the refinery stated.

Meanwhile, PENGASSAN had also accused Dangote Refinery of sabotaging Nigeria’s economy by unjustly sacking 800 workers.
