1. The Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria, PENGASSAN, has ordered its members across key oil and gas companies to halt supply of crude oil and gas to the Dangote Petroleum Refinery. The order followed the alleged sack of 800 workers by Dangote Petroleum Refinery last Thursday.
2. The Kano State Police Command has intercepted suspected illicit drugs valued at over N82 million, marking a major breakthrough in the fight against drug trafficking and abuse in the state. The operation, carried out on September 20, 2025, followed credible intelligence that a suspicious vehicle loaded with cartons of illicit drugs was parked at Rimin Auzinawa Quarters in Kano.
3. Dangote Petroleum Refinery has resumed sale of premium motor spirit, PMS in Naira less than 24 hours after suspending the sale. The reversal of the earlier decision followed the intervention of the Chairman of the Naira for Crude Transaction Committee, Dr. Zacch Adedeji who is the Executive Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service.
4. Armed men suspected to be kidnappers have reportedly abducted 12 passengers of a Toyota bus, along Okene-Auchi road in Kogi State. It was gathered that the incident occurred on Friday when the passengers, who were returning from Abuja to Benin, Edo State, ran into an ambush mounted by their abductors.
5. The Ondo State Police Command has rescued a four-year-old girl from a child-trafficking syndicate allegedly operating across Ondo, Delta and Anambra states. Police spokesperson, Ayanlade Olayinka, described the recovery of the child and the unmasking of the syndicate as “a major breakthrough” in the command’s fight against human trafficking.
6. The Police command in Yobe has arrested four suspects for alleged child rape, assault on a police officer, and unlawful possession of firearms. Police spokesman, SP Dungus Abdulkari, confirmed this in a statement issued in Damaturu on Saturday. He said operatives of Nguru Division arrested two suspects: Jarma Hussaini Adam, 25, and Mohammed Abdusalam, 16, both of Sabon Garin Kanuri, Nguru Local Government Area.
7. President Bola Tinubu on Saturday commissioned 874 cadets of the Nigerian Defence Academy, NDA, into the Armed Forces of Nigeria. The 874 cadets were those of 72 Regular Course, Short Service Course 48 Army, Direct Short Service 33 Air Force and Branch Commission 2 Air Force.
8. The Lagos State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party has dismissed a purported state congress allegedly organised by a faction loyal to former PDP Deputy National Chairman, Chief Olabode George. State Chairman, Philip Aivoji, told journalists in Lagos on Saturday during a press conference that the exercise was “a charade, invalid, illegal and unconstitutional,” insisting that the tenure of the current executive runs until March 2026.
9. Candidate of the African Democratic Congress in the forthcoming Anambra governorship election, Mr John Nwosu, has urged the Independent National Electoral Commission to ramp up measures to curtail vote buying in the election. Claiming that elections in the country are typically characterized by vote buying, Nwosu said a repeat of such phenomenon would taint the credibility of the forthcoming Anambra election.
10. Delta State Government said it has sacked many fraudulent health workers who collected money for treatment from pregnant women and children under five, while others were demoted. The state Commissioner for Health, Dr Joseph Onojaeme, disclosed on Saturday that the Ministry of Health has lived up to expectations through monitoring how the funds released by the government are well spent.
