EPL: Why Brighton beat us at Stamford Bridge – Chelsea coach Maresca

Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca has suggested why his team were defeated 3‑1 by Brighton in the Premier League on Saturday.

Maresca watched as goals from Danny Welbeck and Maxim De Cuyper secured Brighton’s victory against the Blues.

Enzo Fernandez did score for Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, but Trevoh Chalobah received a red card during the encounter.

Speaking in his post-match interview after the game, Maresca insisted that his team lost control of the game in the second half following Chalobah’s dismissal.

“Today in the first half we were in control of the game, creating chances, we didn’t concede anything, and in the second half after five or six minutes, because of our mistake, we were with 10 players and again unfortunately the game changed,” Maresca said.

Chelsea will now face Benfica in the Champions League on Tuesday in their next fixture.
