Niger: Police to enforce tinted glass permit from October 2


The Niger State Police Command has announced that it will commence enforcement of the Tinted Glass Permit requirement for vehicles from October 2nd, 2025.

The command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Wasiu Abiodun, in a statement in Minna said the move is in accordance with the Motor Vehicles Prohibition of Tinted Glass Act, 2004.

“This follows the last extension of grace period for enforcement of the Tinted Glass Permit requirement for vehicles with tint windows for 2nd October, 2025 to enable members of the public the ample opportunity to apply and process their permits in accordance with the Motor Vehicles Prohibition of Tinted Glass Act, 2004.

“On this note, Niger State Police Command wishes to inform Nigerlites and residents of the State that the Police Command shall commence the enforcement of Tinted Glass Permit in compliance with the above directive,” the statement said.

The command advised motorists to process their permits through www.possap.gov.ng and follow the process by signing up into the portal using NIN, BVN or TIN , create an account as well as proceed to make necessary payment as requested on the portal.

The command urged members of the public to comply with the process, noting tha from 2nd October all vehicles with tinted windows shall be requested to present their Tinted Glass Permit at every point of enforcement.

The statement added that from that date any vehicle with tinted windows but without permit shall be impounded and the owner prosecuted under to the Motor Vehicles Prohibition of Tinted Glass Act, 2004.

“The Command hereby requests maximum cooperation and understanding of the public and motorists that this exercise is in the interest of national security and to regulate the use of tint windows in our vehicles for safety of lives and property,” the statement added.
