Kenny challenges Rooney to boxing match over Aguero’s 2012 goal

Paddy Kenny, former Queens Park Rangers goalkeeper, has challenged ex-Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney to a boxing contest to settle their dispute over ex-Manchester City legend Sergio Aguero’s 2012 goal.

Both men have been at odds for several years after Rooney claimed that Kenny allowed Aguero’s 2012 Premier League title-winning goal for Man City against QPR.

Kenny was in goal for QPR on the day Man City secured their first-ever Premier League title in 2012.

City came from 2-1 down to defeat QPR 3-2, with Aguero scoring a late, dramatic winner to secure the Premier League title for the Cityzens on goal difference, at the expense of their rivals, Manchester United.

Rooney had claimed that Kenny should have “done better” in goal, insinuating that the 47-year-old retired goalkeeper deliberately let Aguero score.

However, speaking recently on the matter, Kenny said he is ready to resolve his differences with Rooney in the ring.

He said (via Boxing Social): “He keeps hammering me about that [Sergio] Aguero goal, so I think me and I need to sort it out in the ring.

“13 years on, he is still saying I let the goals in! It might have looked like I let them in, but I didn’t!”
