Imo ADC inaugurates local council executives in 21 LGAs

The Imo State Chapter of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, has inaugurated its Local Council Executive Committee members in 21 out of the 27 LGAs in the state.
Inaugurating the LGA excos, the state chairman of the party, Prof. James Okoroma, said the event marked a fresh journey in the party’s move to establish its presence at the grassroots level.
He maintained that the party in the state is well prepared to engage in any political contest.
Okoroma added that, in ensuring transparency in the exercise, six out of the 27 LGAs did not participate in the inauguration due to some pending issues yet to be resolved.
The party’s state chairman explained that during the nomination process of the LGA excos, the party took into cognisance the major political blocs that formed the coalition to ensure that no bloc was left behind.
Citing the party’s constitution, Okoroma noted that under Article 13 the local government structure is made up of LGA Working Committees and Executive Committees with 53 positions.
He advised those who did not make the list to exercise patience and wait for other positions, maintaining that the structure of the party is wide enough to accommodate everyone.
“Our main focus is to deliver the state from failed leadership and we are on the mission to achieve that. Today we have prepared you for the journey ahead,” he said.
To members who may feel aggrieved, the party chairman advised them to always seek internal mechanisms for resolving disputes, noting that the Supreme Court has made it clear that the party constitution remains supreme and cannot be violated by an individual or any group.
The event, which took place at the party’s secretariat in Owerri, was witnessed by members of the State Executive Working Committee and other party members.
