ASCSN Lagos seals Solidarity House, rejects TUC election over irregularities

The Lagos State Branch of the Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria, ASCSN, has sealed its Solidarity House in Ikeja, following resolutions reached at a Special Emergency Delegates Conference.

Our correspondent gathered that members of the union turned out in large numbers for the exercise, which was conducted under tight security.

The move was part of decisions captured in a communiqué issued at the end of the conference, held on Tuesday, September 23, 2025.

One of the major highlights of the meeting was the endorsement of Comrade Olusegun Rahmon Balogun as the association’s preferred candidate for the position of Chairman of the Trade Union Congress, TUC, Lagos State Chapter.

The communiqué, jointly signed by ASCSN Lagos Chairman, Comrade Jimoh Rotimi Monsuru; Delegate Representative, Comrade Olusegun Kadiri; and Coordinator of the Delegate Conference, affirmed the branch’s rejection of the TUC Lagos delegates’ election conducted on September 18, citing non-compliance with constitutional provisions, rules, and guidelines.

The communiqué further resolved: ”Rejection of the TUC election: The Lagos State Branch dissociated itself from the September 18 election, insisting it violated the constitution and established guidelines.

”Comrade Balogun was formally endorsed as a qualified candidate for the TUC chairmanship, in line with constitutional provisions.

”The conference advised strict adherence to the constitution in future elections and urged the National Secretariat to implement the resolutions.

”The association emphasized its commitment to upholding democratic principles and ensuring credible leadership within the union movement.”
