PDP LG congress peaceful, transparent in Kebbi –Party official

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has described its local government congress in Kebbi State as peaceful, transparent, and orderly.
Chairman of the congress monitoring team, Muhammad Aliyu-Goronyo, who also serves as PDP chairman in Sokoto State, stated this on Saturday, in Birnin Kebbi after leading the exercise across several local government areas.
Aliyu-Goronyo expressed satisfaction with the smooth conduct of the congress across the 21 LGAs of the state.
“So far, so good, we are impressed with the early turnout of delegates, who came out either to vote for their candidates or affirm consensus candidates. The unity we have seen among members and the peaceful atmosphere are encouraging and a testimony of our coming victory in the 2027 general elections,” he said.
He explained that where multiple candidates contested, delegates voted, while consensus candidates were affirmed in line with party rules. He also commended the active participation of youth and women, noting their impressive turnout and orderly conduct.
On his part, retired General Aminu Bande, PDP’s 2023 governorship candidate in Kebbi, applauded security agencies, INEC officials, and the media for their roles in ensuring a smooth exercise.
Bande added that the party now looks forward to its State Executive Congress scheduled for September 27, expressing optimism about PDP’s chances in the 2027 general elections.
The monitoring team visited congress venues in Birnin Kebbi, Kalgo, Bunza, Jega, and Argungu LGAs.
