Fire ravages another radio station in Oyo

Equipment, properties and other items worth millions of naira have been destroyed as a result of fire incident that ravaged the studio of a radio station in Ajayi Crowther University, Oyo State.
DAILY POST gathered that the incident occurred Monday morning.
The radio station is located within the premises of the university.
It was learnt that the fire incident was as a result of electrical surge from air-conditioning.
Chairman of Oyo State Fire Service, Hon Maroof Akinwande confirmed the incident.
Akinwande, in a statement signed and made available to DAILY POST, said, “The fire incident was reported at exactly 11:55 hr on Monday 1st September 2025.
“The agency’s officers led by PFS 11 Makinde promptly responded and deployed to the scene of incident.
“On getting there, we met the radio station studio engulfed by fire and smoke slugged. The fireman swiftly swung into action and the fire was curtailed and restricted from spreading beyond where we met it.
“The fire was as a result of electrical surge from air-conditioning. No casualty was recorded, while the agency were able to save properties worth millions of naira.
“I urge the public to be conscious of fire and emphasize the importance of having extinguishers in respective buildings and correct use of the equipment in order to prevent fire incidents at incipient stage”.
Our correspondent reports that the fire incident in this radio station is coming few days after a similar incident occurred at Fresh 105.9 FM Ibadan.
