Flood destroys 995 rice farms in Jigawa

Flood has destroyed about 995 rice farms in Babura local government area of Jigawa State.
The local government chairman, Suleiman Daudu Babura confirmed the incident in a statement issued to DAILY POST on Wednesday.
He said, the affected villages including,, Kwagga, Martini, Fadibara, Kuzunzumi, 4 jikan kanwa / Fln, Dangaigai, Dankarda, Karfawa Kanawa, burukum gari wato. Bata, S/ baka, Shashatu, burukum Fln, kurtulla.
A resident of one of the affected communities, Abdurahman Maikano, expressed concern that the incident could lead to food shortages and loss of income in the area.
He appealed to the state government and relevant agencies to come to their aid in order to reduce the hardship they may face.
Suraja Muhammad, one of the victims, said such challenges occur almost every year.
He therefore called on the government to engage experts to help prevent and reduce the recurrence of such disasters.
Another council chairman, Malam Hamisu Muhammad Garu, sympathized with the victim and assured the state government commitment to support the victims.
