PDP in ruins, Nigerians have rejected party – APC fires back

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has hit back at governors of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), accusing them of hypocrisy and failing both their party and citizens.

The response came following comments by PDP governors criticizing the APC over alleged undemocratic practices ahead of the 2027 elections.

In a statement signed by APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, on Monday, the party described the PDP as a party in deep comatose, savagely crippled by intractable crisis of its own making.

According to APC, the bye-election results show Nigerians have lost confidence in the opposition.

“It is laughable that PDP governors, from a party crippled by its own crises and barely recognizable from its former self, are making statements that only highlight their own decline. The PDP has fallen into ruins and been rejected by Nigerians. Rather than focus on reviving their failing party, they waste time making baseless allegations against our great Party.”

The party highlighted its recent victories in bye-elections across states like Zamfara, Adamawa, and Kano as proof of public support for President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

“The APC’s dominant victory in the just-concluded bye-elections attest loudly to the level that President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope policies are resonating with Nigerians,” the statement said.

The statement accused PDP governors of celebrating democracy only in states they won, while criticizing it where they lost.

“The victory or defeat of the PDP or other opposition parties is not, and cannot become, the barometer for measuring the credibility of our country’s electoral process,” the APC said.

The statement also praised President Tinubu’s economic policies, noting that federal allocations to state governments have doubled, yet some PDP-led states have reportedly failed to deliver for their citizens.

“The PDP governors should accept the bye-election results as a clear rejection of their party. Denying their party’s decline betrays their disillusioned members. They have no credible ideas for Nigerians and cannot dictate voters’ choices for 2027. While benefiting from President Tinubu’s economic policies and record federal allocations, they continue to fail their citizens with poor governance.”

“Nigeria will not return to the dark days of PDP-led rule when many states were bankrupt and struggled to pay basic wages. President Tinubu has charted a clear path to prosperity, and Nigerians recognize the Party working tirelessly for national renewal. They will not be misled by opposition parties that fail in their own states yet claim they can do better for the country.”

The APC urged Nigerians to ignore empty and misleading rhetoric of these detractors and continue supporting the party as it works to deliver wholesome development and shared prosperity for all Nigerians.
