Police intercept ‘ice’, other hard drugs in Ondo, order crack down

Operatives of the Ondo State Police Command at the weekend intercepted an unregistered vehicle conveying crystal methamphetamine popularly known as ‘ice’ as well as other hard drugs.
The illegal substances were intercepted during a stop-and-search by a patrol team led by ASP Amos Ayuba at Ilara-mokin, Ifedore Local Council Area of the state.
While disclosing that the vehicle conveying the hard drugs carried a fake number plate which was allegedly been stolen from another car, the Commissioner of Police in the state, Adebowale Lawal, stated the development has given credence to the relevance of routine checkpoints and stop-and-search operations in combating crime.
Lawal, who urged residents to remain vigilant and provide credible information to security agencies, ordered an immediate statewide clampdown on unmarked vehicles, cars with covered number plates, unauthorised dealer’s number plates
and motorcyclists wearing masks or face coverings.
He said: “All suspects connected with the case are now in custody while investigations continue.”
