A 50-year-old woman from Lafayette, Indiana, has been arrested for allegedly plotting to kill the United States President, Donald Trump.
Reports indicate that the woman had travelled to Washington, D.C., to carry out the alleged plot to “kidnap and assassinate” before she was apprehended.
The US Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia said in a statement on August 18, 2025, that the suspect had posted graphic threats on Facebook and Instagram, indicating a plan to assassinate the president.
The post reads, “I am willing to sacrificially kill this POTUS by disemboweling him and cutting out his trachea with Liz Cheney and all The Affirmation present.”
According to reports, the female suspect also referred to an “arrest and removal ceremony” scheduled for the US President.
The US Secret Service subsequently launched an investigation after identifying Jones as the author of these posts.
During an interview on August 15, the suspect reportedly admitted to making the threats on her social media accounts and told agents she would attempt to kill the president “if given the opportunity,” citing a desire to avenge lives lost during the COVID-19 pandemic.
She has been charged with threatening the life of the president and transmitting interstate communications containing threats to kidnap or injure another person.
