Wike begins commissioning, flag-off of FCT water projects today

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, has commenced a new round of water projects commissioning and flag-off in the FCT.

This was contained in a statement issued on Tuesday by the Minister’s Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, Lere Olayinka.

According to the statement, Wike commissioned the fully rehabilitated Phase 2 Water Treatment Plant at Lower Usuma Dam in Ushafa, Bwari Area Council.

“After completing 16 days of project commissioning in the FCT that ended on July 3, we are beginning another round of projects today.

“Today, we are commissioning the fully rehabilitated Phase 2 Water Treatment Plant at Lower Usuma Dam in Ushafa, Bwari Area Council.

“Tomorrow, we will flag off the construction and expansion of water supply to our satellite towns, starting with Bwari Township in Bwari Area Council, and on Thursday, we will do the same for Karu town and its environs in Abuja Municipal Area Council,” the statement read.

Recallthat during the June 16 commissioning of the Greater Abuja Water Supply Project, Wike had announced that the FCT administration signed a new agreement following President Tinubu’s 2023 visit to China, to expand water supply to satellite communities such as Bwari, Kubwa, and Karu.

He noted that the procurement for these extensions is almost complete, and assured that the projects would be delivered on schedule.
