Court warns Ogun suspended monarch to stop parading self as Akufon of Idarika

The Ogun State High Court has warned the suspended Akufon of Idarika, Olugbenga Somade, to desist from parading himself as a monarch and comply fully with the previous court order.

The warning was given by Justice S. O. Oloyede at the High Court 2 in Sagamu, Ikenne Local Government area of the state on Tuesday.

DAILY POST learnt that Somade had allegedly been flouting the court order by attending public functions in regalia and being addressed as Akufon of Idarika despite being suspended by the court.

Dr Dada Awosika, SAN, representing the plaintiffs, argued that Somade’s actions were in contempt of the court order and urged the court to take action.

He also disclosed that he had filed an application seeking to send Somade to jail following his violation of court order.

Responding, Justice Oloyede warned Somade to comport himself fully like a gentleman and to stop violating the court order.

The court also urged the counsel to withdraw all applications, including one seeking to commit Somade to prison.

The case was adjourned to September 23rd, 2025, and the judge emphasised the need for Somade to respect the court’s authority and refrain from actions that could be seen as contemptuous.
