Two farmers killed, others injured as assailants reportedly invaded Yobe community

Two farmers have reportedly been killed and two others injured after yet-to-be-identified assailants attacked Zango village, Gulani Local Government Area of Yobe State.
The attack, which occurred on Saturday evening, is believed to be connected to a two-year-old conflict between the victims and their attackers.
The chairman of Gulani Local Government Area, Hon. Daiyabu Ilu Njibulwa, who condemned the brutal assault by attackers armed with arrows and machetes, also expressed frustration with the police response to the ongoing conflict.
“We have repeatedly directed our complaints to the police, but no proper actions were taken despite the fact that a similar conflict occurred in the area last year,” Njibulwa claimed.
Reacting to the development, the Deputy Commissioner in charge of the Criminal Investigation Department, CID, of the Nigeria Police Force, Yobe State Command, also condemned the attack and pledged to take “proper action” to apprehend the perpetrators.
The police noted that they had previously reported the lingering conflict to the Boundary Adjustment Commission for a lasting solution.
