Police foil kidnap attempt, rescue three in Katsina


Police in Katsina State have foiled a kidnap attempt and rescued three men unhurt at Marabar Bangori along the Funtua–Gusau Road.

The development was disclosed in a post by security analyst Zagazola Makama via his X handle.

According to the report, the incident occurred around 11 p.m. on saturday when suspected armed bandits ambushed a white Golf 3 Wagon with registration number BWR 104 HE, driven by 45-year-old Sadi Ahmed and conveying two passengers, Ibrahim Umar, 40, also known as Dan’iya, and Babangida Yusuf, 45, all from Yankara town.

The vehicle, which was transporting tomatoes from Funtua to Yankara, came under heavy gunfire during the attack.

Police spokesperson said that upon receiving a distress call, the Divisional Police Officer mobilised an Armoured Personnel Carrier patrol team to the scene. The operatives engaged the attackers in a gunfight, forcing them to flee.

The victims were rescued without injuries, and efforts to track down the suspects are ongoing.
