‘I’m proud to be Nigerian’ – American singer, Jordan Adetunji on why he didn’t change his surname

American singer, Jordan Adetunji, has revealed why he kept his last name as his stage name.
In a recent interview with The Dotty Show, the ‘Kehlani’ hitmaker explained that he decided keep his surname as a tribute to his Nigerian roots.
He recalled that when he started his music career, many advised him to change his surname, claiming it isn’t a good fit for a stage name, but he refused.
He urged fans who can’t pronounce his last name to learn how to do so, stressing that he will never change his name.
“I keep the name [my surname] for a reason. I remember when I first came into the game everyone was telling me you need to change your surname that it doesn’t sound like an artist’s name. And I was like why can Justin Bieber keep his? I’m a big fan of Justin Bieber,” he stated.
The singer added, “I am proud to be Nigeria, why am I gonna hide it? You’ve got to learn how to pronounce it.”
