Honour Audu Ogbeh by with Green Imperative Project – Osita Okechukwu to Tinubu


A foundation member of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Osita Okechukwu, on Sunday urged President Bola Tinubu to execute the Green Imperative Project, GIP, of the late former Minister of Agriculture, Audu Ogbeh.

Ogbeh died on Saturday at the age of 78-years-old as confirmed by his family.

However, Okechukwu said the greatest legacy Tinubu can bequeath to Ogbeh is to immediately execute the GIP as a living commemoration legacy to a progressive patriot.

He made the call while speaking with journalists at the Aso Villa neighborhood residence of Chief Audu Ogbe.

He recalled how Ogbeh as Minister of Agriculture initiated the Green Imperative Project, aimed at mechanisation of agriculture nationwide.

He said: “Chief Audu Ogbe was so passionate with his pet project, the GIP, which he believed sincerely will utilise every square kilometer of Nigeria’s arable land for one crop and livestock or the other. Ogbe earnestly craved for mechanisation armada, which will make Nigeria not only food sufficient but with capacity for export.

“Hence with his team he visited Brazil in 2018, made sure he finalised the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) and financial model agreements with the Brazilian government, and Islamic Development Bank and Co insuring the project.”

On why Tinubu should honouring Ogbeh, Okechukwu called his attention to excerpts from Ogbe’s last exclusive interview with Daily Trust newspaper.

Okechukwu finally prayed to Almighty God to admit Ogbeh’s soul in his bosom kingdom.

“And again appealed to Mr President to as a matter of urgent national importance to execute Chief Ogbe’s pet project, the GIP as his living commemorative legacy, secondly to lift millions of Nigerians out of multidimensional poverty,” he added.
