Alara of Aramoko Ekiti, Oba Olu Adegoke Adeyemi is dead


The Alara of Aramoko Ekiti in Ekiti State, Oba Olu Adegoke Adeyemi, is dead.

In a statement issued on Saturday by his family, it was gathered that the monarch died on Friday at the age of 82.

The family described the late monarch as a symbol of “remarkable leadership, wisdom, and unwavering commitment to the welfare of his people,” adding that his contributions would remain a lasting testament to his legacy.

Born on December 4, 1942, Oba Adeyemi began his career as a teacher before rising to the position of senior civil servant.

He later served as Sole Administrator of the defunct Ifesowapo Local Government.

In 2009, he ascended the throne of his forefathers as the Alara of Aramoko Ekiti.

The late royal father also distinguished himself in the academic sector, serving as Chancellor of Ekiti State University, where he championed projects aimed at improving education standards and expanding access for local students.

During his reign, Oba Adeyemi was credited with fostering unity, driving community development, preserving cultural heritage, resolving disputes, and promoting youth empowerment.

Funeral arrangements, the family said, will be announced in due course.
