Oyo: ‘We appoint based on merit, not politics, origin’ – Makinde

Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has reiterated his administration’s dedication to upholding merit, competence, and excellence in appointments, stating that his government prioritises talent over sentiment, partisanship, or ethnic considerations.

The governor made this known on Tuesday while inaugurating members of the Oyo State Judicial Service Commission at the Executive Chamber of the Governor’s Office, State Secretariat, Agodi, Ibadan.

Makinde emphasized that his administration will continue to appoint people who can contribute meaningfully to the growth and development of the state, regardless of their political leaning or state of origin.

“Wherever we can find talent that can add value to us as a state, I will go for such a person,” the governor said.

He urged the newly sworn-in commission members to bring their expertise and dedication to bear in advancing the judicial system and the broader interests of the state.

The Chief Judge of Oyo State, Justice Iyabo Yerima, will serve as Chairperson of the Judicial Service Commission, with Mrs M.O. Abdulganiyu appointed as Secretary.

Other members of the commission include the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Abiodun Aikomo; Mr Musibau Adetunji; Chief Joshua Abioye; Chief Moyosore Ajani; and Mr. Wahab Adedigba.
