“Only 30% of 2024 budget implemented, yet they discuss 2026”- Bala Mohammed slams APC

Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, has criticised the All Progressive Congress-led Federal Government over what he describes as poor budget performance, saying only 30 percent of the 2024 budget has been implemented while discussions have already shifted to 2026.
Speaking when he hosted a delegation of former PDP women leaders led by Hajiya Inna Chiroma at the Government House, Governor Bala Mohammed said, “The Federal Government is not working; everyone can see that.
“There are three budgets before the National Assembly. Only 30% of the 2024 budget has been implemented, and they’re already talking about 2026. That shows a complete lack of seriousness,” he added.
DAILY POST reports that the delegation, which included former ministers and senior party members, visited the governor to demand action on the PDP’s gender inclusion promises.
Mohammed said the situation reflects a deeper governance failure under the APC and called on the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to regroup and take back power in order to restore national direction, inclusion, and accountability.
Governor Bala also used the meeting to push for women’s inclusion in party leadership and governance.
He urged the PDP to fully implement the 35% affirmative action policy encouraging women to seek positions beyond the usual gender-based roles.
“In Bauchi, women are handling ministries like budget and planning. We’ve moved past limiting them to just the Ministry of Women Affairs,” he said.
In her remarks, Hajiya Inna Chiroma said PDP women want the party to keep its promise on 35% inclusion for women.
She commended Governor Bala for leading by example in Bauchi, urging other governors to follow his steps.
“If more governors acted like you, we wouldn’t need to beg for inclusion,” she said.
