Chelsea manager, Enzo Maresca, has said Robert Sanchez should have allowed Bryan Mbeumo to score rather than get sent off.
Maresca was reacting to Sanchez’s red card in the 4th minute of their 2-1 defeat to Manchester United on Saturday.
The Spaniard was dismissed for a flying tackle on Mbeumo who was clear on goal.
But Maresca believes that his team stood a better chance if they had 11 men for the rest of the game at Old Trafford.
“It was better to let Mbeumo score than getting the red card,” Maresca said.
“We still had 95 minutes to play… Robert Sánchez is aware of that.
“It’s difficult… but if you ask me, I prefer to be one goal down after five minutes than one player down.”
