Chelle thumbs up CHAN quality despite Nigeria’s loss to Senegal

Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle has expressed satisfaction with the quality of play at the ongoing 2024 African Nations Championship, CHAN, DAILY POST reports.

The biennial competition designed for players featuring in their countries’ domestic leagues started last weekend.

Three countries; Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda are co-hosting this edition of the tournament.

Nigeria’s Home Eagles are making a return to the competition after missing the last two editions.

The Eagles lost 1-0 to defending champions Senegal in their first game on Tuesday.

Despite his side’s defeat, Chelle was quick to praise the standard of play on display.

The Malian also predicted that the tournament will be a success.

“I am surprised about the intensity. There are a lot of good teams and a lot of quality. I think the pitches are very good, allowing for fast-paced and technical football. This would be a great CHAN competition,” he was quoted by CAFonline.
