Three injured in multi-vehicle crash on Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway

The Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps, TRACE, has confirmed that three people sustained injuries in a road crash involving a saloon car, a commercial bus and a tricycle along the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway.

The incident, which occurred on Monday night near Iron Market in Ota, was reported by the Ota Divisional Commander of TRACE, Mr Salau Hammed, during a briefing on Tuesday.

According to Hammed, the accident occurred at approximately 8:20 p.m. and involved a Toyota Camry and a tricycle, both of which were unregistered, as well as a Suzuki commercial bus with registration number KRD 246 YK.

A total of 16 persons were involved in the crash, out of which three, two men and one woman, suffered varying degrees of injuries.

“The Camry was reportedly speeding and lost control before crashing into the tricycle and the Suzuki bus,” Hammed explained.

He added that the injured victims were promptly taken to Adetutu Hospital in the Ilepa area of Ota for medical treatment.

The TRACE commander urged drivers to avoid excessive speeding, which he said remains a major cause of road crashes, especially at night.

He also confirmed that all the vehicles involved in the incident had been cleared from the road to restore normal traffic flow.
