He stepped down for MKO Abiola – Dele Momodu reveals why Atiku is ideal democrat

Former chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and veteran journalist, Dele Momodu, has explained why ex-Vice President Atiku Abubakar is an ideal democrat.
Momodu said since Atiku stepped down for MKO Abiola in 1993, he has continued to play politics with decorum.
He said Atiku, a key figure in the opposition coalition, has never invested in thuggery or election rigging.
In an article on his Facebook page, Momodu said Atiku believes that politics is a game to be played ethically without rancor or bitterness.
The former Vice President has contested for the presidency severally but had always failed.
In the last presidential election, he was defeated by President Bola Tinubu.
There are speculations that Atiku would run again in the 2027 presidential election.
Momodu said: “Since 1993, when he stepped down for Chief Moshood Abiola at the SDP Presidential Primary in Jos, he has played politics with utmost Decorum.
“Even when his arch-rival Babagana Kingibe was picked over him as running mate, he never worked against the party.
“He still became Vice President under resident Olusegun Obasanjo, in a most fatalistic manner.
“He has never introduced violence to the game. Whenever he felt aggrieved, he simply moved on to other platforms in order to try his luck elsewhere. Never did he pull down the roof or set the house on fire.”
